Is coming... is coming...

So, the photos that I mentioned...

As they say here in Ghana, they are coming.

I don't know when, but you can rest assured that they are coming. Certainly. Definitely.

Basically, I'm waiting for Ray's luggage to arrive (Ray came on Monday) which contains a wireless router. Once I have said router, I will be able to access the internet wirelessly and easily and will try to put stuff on here every day or so. At the moment it's a pain to connect to the net.

So, basically, I am lazy. But it's coming.

A few more events:

On Sunday a group of people travelling to the beach on our bus (people from the study group I'm on - I wasn't there) saw an out-of-control bus smash into several roadside sellers, killing them. Not good. On the way back, our bus kinda smashed into a canoe or something and a couple of people were hurt. All in all, not a great day. Everyone was pretty shaken, mainly because of the gore and shock, but also mainly because of the Ghanaian police officers' apparent lack of concern about the deaths. Sorry I can't give a better description, but I am tired. Last night, I woke up in my room unable to breathe - a mosquito coil had tipped over and had burnt a heap of cardboard, other mosquito coils and some of the lino on the floor. This meant that I had a room full of smoke at 1.30am with no-one else awake to offer me their bed in honour of my name. So my eyes and throat are a bit dodgy today.

It's not all bad news though, everything here is generally great. A few of us got stuck into khebabs and sausages bought from the roadside the other night. Freakin' wicked. We were probably eating cat or roadkill or something (or roadkill cat), but it was delicious. All the drumming and classes are going well. Kanchana and I are rocking and doing quite a bit of hardcore stuff in our special advanced class. Yeah man. Ray came on Monday and has been a delight, trying to marry me off to Ghanaian girls. I am in a constant state of terror

That's all for now. Photos and perhaps video or mp3s are coming.

Don't rob anyone.

The end.

I am he who died and was reborn. Worship me.

Hello.

Here's what's gone down the last few days:

We've started drumming classes. Naturally, I am wonderful.

It's been beautiful weather, not too hot during the day with a cool ocean breeze at night. Mmmm. I've heard that Melbourne is freezing.

Too bad about that.

I have been putting on my sunscreen like a good boy and suspect that I am the whitest person in Ghana.

I think dinner's ready.

In conclusion, I have been drumming, hanging around, I passed out and died for a little while (stopped breathing, apparently) from heat exhaustion (I rode an old bike with low gear up a sandy hill in 30 degree heat after not exercising for 7 years), eating, drinking, dancing (I am surprisingly good) and generally annoying the crap out of people and being the resident smart-arse of Ghana.

Sorry that this post is so short and not very juicy, I will write more often in the future. The dam has now broken.

I promise.

I have some photos of my room and where I'm staying, but I will have to upload them another time. So stay tuned.

Thanks SO much for reading.

Bonsoir,

Jacob

My hip hurts.

I forgot to mention that earlier.

So.. yeah...

Ow.

Whoops... Already...

Hello.
I am in Amsterdam airport. To keep a short story short, I didn't look at the dates on my itinerary properly. I figured that the reason it looked like I had 2 days in Amsterdam on my itinerary was because of the whole travelling-round-the-world-mucks-up-times-zones-and-what-day-it-is thing.

Apparently not.

So,
I have something like 30 hours in Amsterdam rather the 8 I thought I had. Thus, I think I'll look on these internets and try and fine some cheap accommodation.
Just thought I'd let you know because it's SUPER interesting and makes it look like I'm going to endeavour to update this regularly.

In other news, the planes were fine, although Malaysia airlines are MUCH nicer than KLM. I didn't even get my own screen on the KLM leg. Wahh.

So, I'm in Amsterdam.

Anybody want anything?

Apart
from hookers and drugs.

I rock travel. To the max.

A new hope™

Hello.
Welcome to The Internets.

I am travelling to Africa soon. I don't like sending group emails. Consequently, I have set up this weblog in order to document and communicate my experiences to YOU, the enthralled reader. Please feel free to read it. Or not. I have no idea how easily, regularly or interestingly I will be able to write stuff on here (Travel Blog Solutions, The Internets) once I am over there (Ghana, Africa), but we will see.

Oh yes, we will see.

In case you don't know why this beautiful blog thing is happening, I am travelling to Ghana, Africa to study percussion. I have 6 months free from Uni and work and am going to just stay over there (Ghana, Africa) and do stuff (to be documented in/on this here blog) until my money runs out. If you want to keep me away for longer, I will happily take money from you. With or without your knowing.

So, please excuse my self-conscious, pseudo-intellectual rambling as I try to work out how I am going to do this and 'find my voice'. Also, feel free to abuse or buse me in the comments... That will be fun for all involved.

Also, if you read this before next Wednesday the 13th of August (when I leave) and have an old, unlocked, spare mobile phone that you would not mind me giving to someone in Ghana and can be bothered/are able to get said phone to me before I leave, please let me know.

Finally, by the time you read this , I have probably sent an email around informing people of Travel Blog Solutions' existence. If I have missed someone out, please let them know and accept my HUMBLE apology.

I need a catchy sign off.
